Through the project more than 5,000 families (27,500 persons) will get support. Project activities will especially address pregnant women who deliver during the flood season as well as the elderly population and people with disabilities.
Special attention will be given to the aspect of sustainability so that in future the impact and the damages caused by natural disasters can be reduced. On 21st October 2011 a launching ceremony of the project “Strenghtening the Community for Flood Risk Reduction in Sunamganj” took place in Mymensingh with representatives from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the German Embassy in Dhaka and participants from Caritas Bangladesh and Germany.
